In the monitoring and care-giving of the villagers, you will be introduced to trained and experienced support staff who will help and guide you through your stay in Camphill..

You will have the opportunity to attend the weekly meetings (staff meetings, introductory courses and village meetings) and thus gaining the social feeling which is the source of motivation of our work. Various training courses, lectures are held in the village, which you may like to attend.

As someone from outside Norway, it is imperative that you learn Norsk (Norwegian language) so that you can be able to communicate with the villagers that you work and live with in your house and workshop. You will be expected to attend Norsk language lessons.

As a new co-worker, when you join us you will attend seminars that will teach you about Camphill, how to work with mental and physical challenges. The seminars also help you get to know all other co-workers working with you in Jossasen and other Camphills in Norway because they all meet to socialise and share experiences from their different places.

In Jossasen, we have people who can help with your physical, mental and spiritual support and inspiration because we need you in good working spirit.

You will have your personal time off and holidays and together in summer we go for walks and trips with the people in the houses, you can go fishing in the Jossasen lake or relax at the small beach. In winter we do a lot of skiing with the villagers because they take part in skiing competitions.

You can have visitors and they can stay in huts and have time for themselves or can live in the houses and help with the house work.

FEEDBACK/TESTIMONIES

Here we have feedback or testimonials from the co-workers who have worked with us before.

''I lived for six months in Jøssåsen and I think it's a good way to get to know more about the Norwegian culture and do something useful at the same time. It's exciting to experience the life in an community and to work with people with special needs.
I've acquired new skills, met a lot of nice people and made new friends. I enjoyed my time in Jøssåsen and I think I will keep coming back to visit every now and then.''

"Living in Jøssåsen is a big challenge. You give a lot to the people - empathy, manpower, skills - but you also get a lot - new friends, social life, a completely different way of looking at people you live with. Living here changed a lot in my life."
